Carebase Launches Its Caring Christmas Campaign For The Elderly In Need Of Company This Christmas
Carebase <http://www.carebase.org.uk> , a group of care homes specialising in nursing, residential and dementia care in the South East and East Anglia, has announced it will launch a Caring Christmas Campaign this year by giving deserving, elderly people from the local community a free stay at two of its care homes.
Carebase’s Alderwood <http://www.carebase.org.uk/homes/alderwood/> care home in Colchester, Essex, and its Claremont Court <http://www.carebase.org.uk/homes/claremont-court/> care home in Guildford, Surrey, are both offering two people a three-night stay at each of the care homes on 24, 25 and 26 December. Four fortunate people will be able to spend a fun and festive Christmas with Carebase taking care of them this year.
Carebase is acutely aware that elderly and vulnerable people need to be looked after even more during the winter months, especially over the Christmas period when friends and family are often away. Carebase has taken inspiration from Julie Curtis, manager of Delamere House care home in Walton, who has recently launched a similar campaign and is encouraging other care home providers to get involved.
Both Claremont Court and Alderwood care homes opened this summer, and although filling up quickly, will have some spare rooms during the Christmas period. Carebase couldn’t think of a better way of giving this Christmas than by offering beds to those most in need who would otherwise be on their own.
Carebase is encouraging people to nominate themselves or others for the free stay at the care homes from the launch date on 1 December to the closing date on 16 December, when Carebase will choose the four lucky people.
Nominations, which should not exceed 200 words explaining why the person would benefit from the stay, should be sent to christmas@carebase.org.uk <mailto:christmas@carebase.org.uk> or call 0208 879 6567 and mention the Caring Christmas Campaign.
Those fortunate enough to spend Christmas at Carebase’s two newest homes, which opened in August this year, will be able to enjoy a special Christmas lunch, great activities, entertainment and much seasonal cheer and laughter. The care homes really get in the swing of the festive season and friends and family are encouraged to visit as much as possible.
Each of the Christmas residents will have their own private and spacious room with ensuite bathroom and will have full use of the care homes’ wonderful facilities.
Carebase will ensure four people are not on their own this Christmas and hopes this Caring Christmas Campaign will encourage others to think about elderly people who may be lonely at this time of year and do something to help them.
Nicola Coveney, Managing Director, Carebase, says: “Christmas is traditionally a time to spend with close family and friends, but sadly many elderly people are left alone during the festive season. We loved Julie’s idea so much that we immediately wanted to emulate it and offer free beds to those in need of company, care and compassion. We look forward to welcoming our four new residents on Christmas Eve.’ 2011-12-05 14:01:44
