Carewatch's Nicci Voted As The East Of Englands Top Home Care Manager

A Norfolk home care manager has won an award at The Great East of England Care Awards 2011 meaning she has been recognised as the top home care manager in the South East of England. Nicci Shrimpton, who works at home care provider Carewatch’s Central Norfolk branch, won the Home Care Registered Manager Award. This was one of 21 awards announced at a ceremony on 28th October at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, hosted by television presenter Andrew Castle.

Nicci, who was secretly nominated for the award by her Carewatch branch managing director Nick Folkard, is thrilled to have won this award. Nick Folkard comments; “Everyone at Carewatch Central Norfolk is delighted that Nicci has won this award and feels she thoroughly deserves this recognition given the hard work she puts in daily.”

Nicci, who has been involved in the care industry for many years, joined the Central Norfolk branch of Carewatch Care Services Ltd over six years ago, working as a supervisor and coordinator before being promoted to registered branch manager in 2006.

Nick Folkard nominated Nicci because of the outstanding progress she has made since joining the branch. “Nicci does a wonderful job and has repeatedly gone the extra mile to ensure all the staff and particularly the service users are happy,” comments Nick.

In particular, Nicci’s sensitivity and discretion when dealing with service users who require palliative care has particularly impressed Nick. End of life care can be complex but Nicci has dealt with many difficult cases with great dedication. One such service user remained very fastidious about his appearance despite his ill health and Nicci organised for a care worker, who previously worked as a hairdresser, to cut his hair for him.  She firmly believes in giving people the end of life they deserve and will go out of her way to do so.

The Great East of England Care Awards is part of a series of regional Great British Care Awards and is a celebration of excellence across the care sector. The awards have received support from across the social care sector, including the Adult Directors of Social Services (ADASS), Department of Health, the English Community Care Association (ECCA) and the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE).

The winners will go forward to the national finals to be held at London’s Royal Courts of Justice next summer.
