The English Community Care Association (ECCA), the leading representative charity for independent care providers, whilst welcoming the decision not to increase fees further for providers in 2012 and to reduce the fees in the lowest band for adult social care providers without accommodation, ECCA still feels that the fees scheme for Adult Social Care needs refining.

“We believe that many of ECCA concerns from the original fees consultation last year have not been addressed for 2012. Many ASC providers saw huge increases in fees last year particularly care homes of over 60 beds and yet there is no move to help providers through payment by instalments and ASC providers, we believe,  pay relatively more than the NHS.”

 

Martin Green continues:

 

“We welcome CQC’s acknowledgement of our views that their fees policy should be able to incentivise quality. However, the details are sketchy as to how this would work and the timeframe of 3 to 5 years too long.”

 

Martin concluded, “We need to remind ourselves that adult social care providers pay high fees to be registered by CQC and in the current financial climate we need to be assured that CQC is as effective and efficient as possible in spending that money and that it has as an aim, a fair and proportionate fees scheme.”
